Gaming Angels recently interviewed Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner, as part of a group interview about the upcoming PoP movie and game. For those who really have lived under a rock for two decades, Prince of Persia originally started out life on the Apple II and has since grown into a franchise loved by many, with releases on every major platform.

In preparation for their interview Gaming Angels opened the floor for community submitted questions, and I was happy to discover that one of mine was selected: -

While working on the original PRINCE OF PERSIA game, did you ever think it would turn into a franchise? Or did you intend for it to be a “one shot” game?

You know, back in the 1980’s when I was programming the first Prince of Persia game on the Apple II, I don’t think I could have imagined it would still be around 20 years later, much less that it would turn into a giant Jerry Bruckheimer film with these epic production values. That’s really more than a dream come true.

Many thanks to Naomi for selecting one of my questions for her interview, which you can read in full here.

Atheistium recently reviewed Tekken 6, for the Xbox 360. If you’ve been holding back on making the purchase, the excellently written review will help push you in the right direction.

Each level feels extremely repetitive and the camera is quite finicky, especially if you want to turn back and destroy some crates you might have missed out on. Along with the camera, you have to work out which target you are locking onto, and it does take a good couple of seconds for the lock to unlock and switch after the target has been terminated. Fighting feels like a real chore in this mode and most of the time you end up using some simple punch, punch, kick combos to take out the majority of the enemies.

While generally positive, the review finds flaws in the additional scenario mode (as stated above), and the sometimes laggy online modes. It can be read in full, here.

openTRAY’s Kyaizen recently reviewed the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. If you’ve been holding back on making the purchase, this review will certainly help push you in the right direction.

Every multiplayer has flaws, and even the mighty Modern Warfare 2 has no exceptions. Some of the kill-streaks are slightly unfair, some weapons are overpowered [not as much as people were saying before the game was released], and some maps I can’t stand.. But that’s expected.

The review is extremely favourable (a little too much, imo), finding only a few flaws in the multiplayer aspect of gaming (which is strange considering that section alone scored 10/10), and the short single player campaign.

It can be read in full, here.

Stay tuned to OSG for my Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 review tomorrow.

Having been lost for the past few days in a haze of Modern Warfare 2, I’ve finally emerged to bring you some of the best news stories from the past few days.

Final Fantasy XIII has finally been given a launch date, 9th March 2010. You can help unlock an exclusive XBL FFXIII item using Twitter, here.

The much anticipated NXE update will go live on 17th November, you can read my first impressions here.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold an amazing 1.2 million copies in the UK on day of release, congratulations to Infinity Ward.

According to Console Monster, The Bible is set to hit your Xbox 360 soon. It’s expected to retail for 400 MS points.

Project Natal has been named as one of TIME Magazine’s Inventions of the Year. This marks the third major honour that Project Natal has received in the past month, not bad for something that isn’t even on shelves yet.

A new version of the Xbox 360 wireless adaptor has been announced. It supports the N protocol (as well as a, b, and g), sports dual antennas, and promises a greater wireless range. It will be available this Christmas.

Normal service will resume tomorrow, I promise.

If you’ve been holding back on making the purchase, the review will help push you in the right direction.

The actual fighting feels fluid and you can’t question the quality of animation they are presenting. Characters flow from one move to another with stylised 2D sprites. The game has a certain retro feel to it, which is reassuring for old time fans worried about any dramatic art changes. With all this attention in capturing each character’s original art you would think the game would be wrapped with similar attention right? wrong, the menus are presented so poorly. At least the fighting arenas themselves are a joy to watch, travelling across the globe focusing on overly animated spectators, glossy fireworks and oddball surroundings.

Atheistium’s review while praising in parts, finds flaws in King of Fighters XII’s poorly presented menu system, it’s lack of a practice mode (essential for any newcomer, imo), and pointless rewards. It can be read in full, here.

Spawn Kill’s Molotov Cupcake recently reviewed the Xbox 360 version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. If you’ve been holding back on making the purchase, the excellently written review will help push you in the right direction.

While you might be expecting some sort of dynamic changes from the original game, the exact same RPG elements are still intact. Via an isometric camera view, it’s your job to guide a ragtag bunch of heroes throughout several different areas, performing regular RPG-esque tasks. Yes, you’ll be leveling up, collecting money, items, and exploring to your heart’s content.

The review is generally favourable, however marks down Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for its lack of improvement over the original, and the sometimes grating one-liners. It can be read in full here.
